Uyumsuz Hayal Kurma
Hayal kurma, gelecekte gerçekleşmesi istenilen durumlara veya geçmişte düzeltmek istediğimiz deneyimlere yönelik düşünceleri ve duyguları içermektedir.
Uyumsuz hayal kurma (maladaptive daydreaming), bir çeşit hayal kurma bağımlılığı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Hayal kurma davranışından daha uzun süreli olması, içeriklerin farklılığı, eşlik eden davranışların görülmesi ve kişinin yaşamına müdahale etmesi yönüyle ayrılmaktadır. Uyumsuz hayal kurma, çoğu zaman hikaye tarzında, bir olay örüntüsünün ilerletilmesi şeklinde görülmektedir. Yarım bırakılan örüntü tekrar hayal kurmaya başlandığında kaldığı yerden devam etmektedir. Hayallerde kişinin kendisi ve tanıdığı kişiler bulunabildiği gibi bazen tamamen hayali karakterleri de içerebilir. Hayallerde kişiler, mekanlar en ince ayrıntısına kadar düşünülüp kurgulanmaktadır. Hayal kurma yürüme, koşma, araba sürme gibi eylemler sırasında görülebilmektedir. Bunlar istemsiz davranışlar değildir. Kişi hayal kurarken yürüdüğünün farkındadır.
Hayallerde yaşanan duygular son derece gerçekçidir.
Kişi gülebilir, ağlayabilir veya karşısında biri varmış gibi konuşabilir. Hayal kurduğunun farkında olmasına rağmen gerçekliğe dönme konusunda zorlanabilir. Üzüntü, kaygı gibi istenir olmayan duygular yaşandığında uyumsuz hayal kurma isteği artmaktadır. Böylece kişi duygularından kaçıp kendi yönettiği ve sadece istediği duyguları yaşayabileceği hikayesine yoğunlaşıp gündelik hayatın sorumluluklarından kurtulabilir. Kişilerin yaşadıkları yoğun stres karşısında bir savunma mekanizması olarak uyumsuz hayal kurma davranışını benimsedikleri düşünülmektedir. Bu savunma zamanla bir alışkanlığa dönüşmektedir ve kişi fırsat bulduğu her anda hayal kurmaya devam etmek için yoğun bir istek duymaktadır.
Hayal kurmaya karşı duyulan bu yoğun istek kişiyi işe geç kalma, erteleme davranışı gösterme, sosyal ortamlardan uzak kalma ve akademik başarısızlık gibi sorunlarla baş başa bırakabilir.
Uyumsuz hayal kurma literatürde yeni bir kavramdır ve halk arasında da çok bilinmemektedir. Yaşanılan bu durumun anlaşılamayacağı kaygısı, kişinin çevresine anlatma ihtimalini azaltmaktadır. Bazı kişilerde kaygı ve etiketlenmeden dolayı duyulan utanç uyumsuz hayal kurmanın sınırlandırılmasında etkili olabilmektedir.
Uyumsuz hayal kurma yeni bir kavram olduğundan dolayı standart bir terapi planı bulunmamaktadır.
Dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite bozukluğu, anksiyete bozukluğu, sosyal kaygı gibi psikolojik rahatsızlıklarla veya çocuklukta yaşanan ihmal ve istismar ile ilişkili olarak görülmektedir. Terapide bu sorunların çözülmesi üzerine çalışmak uyumsuz hayal kurma davranışının ortadan kalkması için bir çözüm olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte uyumsuz bilişlerle çalışan Bilişsel Davranışçı Terapi yöntemi ile uyumsuz hayallerin ortaya çıkış nedenleri ve sürecin sağlıklı bir şekilde yönetilmesi üzerine çalışılmaktadır.
