CAS (Cognitive Assessment System) Testi/Bilişsel Değerlendirme Testi Nedir?
CAS testi, 5-17 yaş aralığındaki çocuklar için kullanılan bir zeka ve yetenek testidir.
Okul hayatı başlayan çocukların planlama, dikkat, eş zamanlılık ve ardıl bilişsel işlemlerini değerlendirme açısından en kapsamlı sonucu veren bu kalem kağıt testi;
Dikkat Eksikliği ve Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu,
Öğrenme Bozukluğu,
Mental Retardasyon (Zihinsel Engel),
Duygusal Bozukluklar,
Travmatik Beyin Hasarı,
Üstün Zeka,
Başarının Önceden Kestirilmesi,
Planlama Problemleri olan çocukların belirlenmesi amacıyla uygulanır.
Planlama anlamında sorun yaşayan çocuk, organize olmakta güçlük, okunan metnin doğru yorumlanmasında başarısızlık, ödev ve faaliyetlere nereden başlayacağını bilememe gibi sorunlar yaşayabilmektedir.
Bu nedenle bu alanda sorun yaşayan ve okul hayatı olan çocukların muhakkak değerlendirilmesi gerekir. Aynı şekilde dikkat alanında sorun yaşayan çocuk; faaliyetleri tamamlayamama, sorulan soruları sıklıkla yanlış yanıtlama, verilen ödevleri sıklıkla unutma, dikkat dağıtıcı faktörlere direnmekte güçlük yaşama, ödev veya sınavda odaklanmada başarısızlık gibi problemlerle karşılaşabilmektedir. Bu nedenle çocuğun bu alanda yaşadığı sorunların tespit edilmesi önemlidir.
Eşzamanlılık alanında güçlüğü olan çocukların ise işlem hesaplamasında yavaşlık, paragrafın anlamını yorumlamada başarısızlık, tanıdık kelimeleri okuyamama, ilişkileri anlamada ve algılamada yetersizlik (özellikle çıkarımda bulunmada yetersizlik) yani okuduğu metini yorumlama, ayrıntılandırma ve anlam çıkarmada zorluk gibi alanlarda sorunlar yaşayabilmektedir. Son olarak Ardıl bilişsel işlemlerde problem yaşayan çocuk; çabuk unutma, problemin çözümü sırasında adımları eksik bırakma, sıralamayı karıştırma, ses eksiltme ya da ekleme sorunu, hatalı ifadelendirmeler, söz dizimi kurallarını anlayamama, söz dizimini yapılandıramama, hatalı seslendirmeler, hatalı okuma, okuma sırasında doğru ifadelendirme yapamama gibi problemlerle karşılaşabilmektedir.
Tüm bunların sonucunda; dikkat, planlama, eşzamanlılık ve ardıl bilişsel işlemlerin bir alanında veya hepsinde sorun yaşayan çocuğun, hem günlük yaşantısında hem akademik faaliyetlerde güçlük yaşayabileceği unutulmamalıdır.
Bu alanlarla ilgili çocuğunun muhakkak desteklenmesi gerekir. Çocuk, zeka anlamında herhangi bir sorun yaşamıyor olabilir ve hatta çocuk üstün zekaya sahip olabilir ancak bu alanlardan herhangi birinde zorluk yaşıyorsa gerçek potansiyelini sergilemesi konusunda güçlük çekebilir. Bu nedenle bu alanların tek tek değerlendiriliyor olması ve sorun yaşanılan alanların tespit edilmesi önemlidir. Bununla birlikte bazı çocuklar tüm bu alanlarda üstün bir başarı sergiliyor olabilir ancak çocuğun üstün olan yanlarının güçlendirilebilmesi için tespit edilmesi gerekmektedir.
Çocuğun potansiyelini ortaya koyabilmesi, güçlendirilmesi ya da desteklenmesi gereken alanlar belirlendikten sonra gerekli bilişsel müdahale programlarına başlanıyor olması çocuğun akademik hayatının ve günlük yaşantısının olumlu yönde seyretmesi için önemlidir.
