Migren Tedavisinde EMDR Terapisi
EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Türkçe açılımıyla Göz Hareketleriyle Duyarsızlaştırma ve Yeniden İşleme olarak psikoterapi dünyasına kazandırılmış, oldukça güvenli bir terapi yöntemidir.
EMDR terapisi ve temelini aldığı Adaptif Bilgi İşleme Modeli’ne göre anılar, beynimizde o anki ses, koku, imgeler, duygu ve düşüncelerle birlikte işlemlenir, öğrenilir ve işlevsel hale gelir. Ancak travmalarda bu durum böyle olmaz. Travma gibi etkileyici olumsuz anıları beyin işlemleyemez ve böylece bu anıları hatırlatacak uyaranlarla karşılaşıldığında ilk yaşandığındaki haliyle zihinde duran travmatik deneyimler, tekrar aynı duygularla gün yüzüne çıkar. Bu durum da psikolojik problemlere yol açar.
EMDR’la çalışılıp fayda görülebilen çeşitli rahatsızlıklar vardır. Bunlara Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu (TSSB), depresyon, fibromiyalji, anksiyete bozuklukları, yeme bozuklukları örnek verilebilir. EMDR’ın kullanıldığı bir diğer alan ise migren tedavisidir ve Davranış Bilimleri Enstitüsü, EMDR’la migren üzerine çalışmalar yapmış ve migrenin olumsuz etkilerini azalttığını ortaya koymuştur.
Migren, kişinin hayatını oldukça olumsuz etkileyen, şiddeti ve sıklığına bağlı olarak kişiyi atak sırasında işlevsizleştiren bir hastalıktır.
Migreni tetikleyen en büyük tehdidin stres olduğu görülmüştür. Stres, migren atağına sebep olabileceği gibi migren atakları da kişi için strese ve travmaya sebep olabilir.
EMDR’la migren çalışan EMDR terapistleri, öncelikle hastadan ilk migren atağını hatırlamalarını ister. Migren atağını hatırlayan danışandan bu kez, o sırada nasıl bir olay olduğu, migrene sebep olmuş olabilecek rahatsızlık verici olayların bilgisi alınır. Sonrasında anıları işlemlemeye odaklanan EMDR’la birlikte bu anıların üzerine çalışılır ve zihinde nötrleştirilir. Aynı zamanda migreni halihazırda günümüzde tetikleyen belirli uyaranlar üzerine de işlemleme yapılır ve duyarsızlaştırılır.
EMDR terapisi alan migren hastalarının zamanla daha az ilaca başvurdukları, acile gitme sıklıklarının azaldığı, ağrıların şiddeti ve sıklığının azaldığı, bazense ortadan kalktığı görülmüştür. Migren için EMDR almak isteyen kişiler mutlaka alanında uzman ve yetkin bir EMDR terapistine başvurulmalıdır.
